Overview

RecExport ("the App") is an audio recording application developed by tkysyskwdev. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the App collects and how it is used.

Data We Collect

Audio Recordings: The App records audio using your device's microphone. Recordings are stored locally on your device and are only uploaded to cloud services that you explicitly configure and authorize.

Cloud Service Credentials: When you connect a destination (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, S3-compatible storage, WebDAV, or a notification endpoint), the authentication tokens or secrets are stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device. We do not have access to these credentials.

Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect personal information or advertising identifiers.
We do not use tracking technologies.
We do not share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
We do not process your audio on our servers — all data flows directly between your device and your chosen cloud services.

Analytics

We use PostHog to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data that helps us understand how features are used and improve the App's reliability. We send anonymous events only — we do not identify you, and PostHog is configured with no autocapture, no screen-view tracking, and no session replay.

What is collected:

Anonymous feature-usage events (e.g., which recording trigger was used, whether onboarding was completed, or that a notification/calendar setting was toggled)
Upload reliability events per destination (success or failure, and a general failure category such as "network" or "timeout"), with recording length as anonymized ranges such as "10–60 seconds" rather than exact durations
The install date (day only) and the App version, to understand adoption and support long-time users
Approximate location at the country level, derived by PostHog from your IP address (the IP address itself is not retained by us)
Basic device metadata (iOS version, device model, App version — attached automatically)

What is NOT collected:

No personally identifiable information (no names, emails, or account information)
No audio content, transcripts, or file names
No exact recording durations — only anonymized ranges
No precise location
No cloud service credentials

Analytics data is processed by PostHog in the United States. We send anonymous events only and do not build user profiles from this data. For details, see the PostHog Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Cloud Services

When you choose to upload recordings, data is sent directly from your device to the cloud service you selected. Each cloud service has its own privacy policy:

For S3-compatible storage and Webhook endpoints, you are responsible for the privacy practices of the services you configure.

Permissions

Microphone: Required for audio recording. You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings.

Network: Used to upload recordings to your configured cloud services.

Data Security

Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain, which provides hardware-backed encryption. All network communications use HTTPS/TLS encryption. The App does not use custom encryption beyond standard iOS and transport-layer security.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
